Original Item: Only One Available. This wool officer's filed cap was made in TOKYO before WW2 and bears a trade label IN ENGLISH showing faux coat of arms over:
SUPERIOR GRADE
TOKYO
Also printed in white on the leather cap band:
Fully lined with almost a sack cloth material the felt on the cap body is of a very heavy grade clearly intended for use in Cold Weather, no doubt in Manchuria which Japan had recently invaded and annexed.
There is a woven cloth cap badge showing a single five-pointed imperial Japanese star. Most interestingly behind the wide leather cap band is a long strip of cotton fabric covered in stitching depicting Japanese characters in red thread. Research tells us this would usually identify the officer and his unit.
All in all in really excellent almost unused condition, pre WW2 Japanese quality items of this kind are very rarely encountered.
